My first introduction to massage therapy came through a friend from Fort Collins who was attending massage school and needed people to practice on. She mentioned Colorado Institute of Massage Therapy in Colorado Springs at that time. Years later, after moving to Colorado Springs, I starting seeing a CIMT graduate for massage therapy after being thrown from a horse.
I completed my Bachelors in Health Science and decided to expand my scope of practice with massage. I enrolled at CIMT based solely on its reputation. I was very surprised at how quickly we were immersed in hands-on training and comprehensive classroom learning. I found myself in a unique situation, after graduation, as I was beginning to teach some of the more complex classes because of my previous schooling. Shortly after, I began working with the Education Department and now my responsibilities have grown to include Owner and Director. I continue to practice massage therapy utilizing the skills and tools taught and introduced by CIMT. As far as this field goes, you never stop learning and developing.
Massage therapy is a multifaceted career that brings equal amounts of benefit to giver and receiver. Choosing a school is an important decision and should be made with significant contemplation about career goals in mind. We have graduates working with professional and Olympic level athletes, traveling the world teaching Neuromuscular therapy, establishing businesses that are now being franchised. Medical and pain management fields are increasing opportunities for massage therapists. More opportunities are available than there are practitioners to fill them. Come see what opportunities are here for you at Colorado Institute of Massage Therapy.
